Combined LEWT and MWC, Geneva
This past weekend was a big one for this years tournament season. Friday was the make-up day for our June LEWT that got canceled. Saturday was the scheduled Geneva LEWT. And the combined 2 day total weight was for the MWC. The squad dialed up just what the doctor ordered. Jason and I took 5th in Friday’s LEWT, 4th in the MWC, and 2nd in Saturday’s LEWT. A HUGE congrats to Mike Miller and Bryan Fisher on the dominant win in all 3 events. 44lbs on Saturday?!? My goodness. This was well deserved, and I knew it was only a matter of time before these guys had a tournament like this. Very proud of them. I was very curious coming into this one whether it would be a casting or trolling gig, especially with how calm it was during the tournament. It seemed to us that the fish were just too deep, and it took too long to get your casting baits to the fish before they moved from the target your casted too. Trolling seemed to be more efficient and it dominated. Trolling is still relevant in the tournament walleye world…. It came down to execution and efficiency. Detecting small bites with weighted baits running deep can be tough. Being able to micro adjust the tattle flags on Off Shore Tackle boards was super important. 2 more summer time tournaments out east this year, I can’t wait, and we’ll be ready!
