Fishing Rental by Owner - in paradise
This post isn’t about filling rentals or making money, it’s about sharing an opportunity for all of you that I dreamed about until I just created it. I’ve always been into ‘Do It Yourself’ fishing trips, at the pinnacle of that for me was tropical saltwater fishing, especially the big game stuff. However, it’s very difficult to do on your own; long runs, heavy expensive gear, hard to get a boat, the list goes on… None of this was going to stop me, I started piece by piece accumulating gear and found some magical places in the Bahamas (Treasure Cay and Spanish Wells) where you can rent a boat and make short runs to the promised land. Hauling the gear back and forth on airplanes is a major pain in the butt, again that didn’t stop us. The stars aligned and Julia and I found a way to buy villa that we are using as a vacation rental and a place for us to go forever.
This is where the beauty comes in; to make it easier for all my friends in the fishing community that share the same passions and drive that I do, I decked out a rental locker in our villa with Penn rod and reels combos, a gaff, rod belt, and cooler to do just about anything you want…. 4 Penn Squall 2 Speed Trolling combos, 1 Penn Fathom Bottom fishing combo, 2 heavy Penn Battle spinning combos, a surf rod, and a couple light spinning rods for reef or bait fishing. BYOTT (bring your own terminal tackle), rent a boat across the street from Treasure Cay Boat Rentals, and have at it. I’m in the process of writing a seasonal fishing guide and terminal tackle packing list, I’ll lay out what I know, but there is still just so much still to learn and the fishing is soooooooo good. From Blue Marlin to bonefish, if you can imagine, there is a time when you will have a shot within 7 miles of the harbor. Wahoo season is just about 2 months away, you can do this!
